The New York based Kress family of the 1920s could vacation anywhere on earth, and they chose the place that gave them a privileged sense of solitude. They chose the banks of the Tuckasegee River where High Grove now offers this solitude to those looking for a retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The community farm plays an important community role with the individual and village home sites at High Grove, and was developed by the Kress family to support their mountain estate retreat and does the same for homeowners now.
